1st Mayor's Award for Compassion

Description: Mayor Rick Goldring, on behalf of the City of Burlington, awarded the 1st Mayor's Award for Compassion to the Burlington Public Library who developed the Halton Community Services Database which includes the Palliative Care Quick Guide. If you need food, transportation, home support, urgent care, support groups, spiritual care or support, hospice care or financial support, all you have to do is dial 211 or go to hipinfo.ca or visit the Burlington Public Library. The event was held at St. Stephen United Church on October 7, with food trucks and a Before I Die... art installation. The goal of the event was to get people talking about dealing with death and dying and how to better support each other. There was a lot going on in the city during the first week of October to encourage families to normalize the conversation about death and what do you want to do before and at the end of your life. Talk about it!
